In Russian culture and in the countries with culture influenced by the Soviet Union, estrada is a kind of scenic art of small forms of mainly popular-entertaining direction, including such directions as singing, dance, circus on stage, illusionism, colloquial genre, parody, clownery. As a kind of cultural and economic activity, the estrada is an integral part of show business. The term derives from the French word estrade, a stage for performances.
Artists performing in the estrada genre are called estrada artists or artists of estrada.
There is a Moscow Estrada Theatre in Moscow, established in 1951.
